§12 / §13 Avant & Vavnt

Avant Garde was a magazine somewhat famous for Herb Lubalin’s type treatments, including the magazine’s logo. That style was developed into a full typeface, with a truly remarkable number of alternates and ligatures.

Womprat contains similar forward-leaning alternates (Avant) and backward-leaning alternates (Vavnt). The alternate characters for A, M, V, and W are enabled automatically when selecting these OpenType features.

Matching its default appearance, M is pointed, but can be blunted in conjunction with SS08 Mortis.

Alternatively, the W can be sharpened to match the pointed M in conjunction with either SS06 Wanga or SS07 X-Wing.

Avant and Vavnt broaden Womprat’s capabilities significantly, especially when coupled with SS11 Lubalin Ligatures.
